Before its inception, the proposal for Navy Medical College, Chattogram (NMCC) underwent rigorous scrutiny by the Government of Bangladesh. The following milestones reflect its journey to official recognition:

• Approval in Principle: Granted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare after extensive evaluation.
• Inspection by an Expert Committee: A team comprising representatives from the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC), and Deans of public medical universities visited the site and assessed compliance with requirements.
• Academic Approval: Secured following a positive evaluation, acknowledging that NMCC fulfills the necessary conditions to start its MBBS program.

The approval process demonstrates the government’s confidence in NMCC’s infrastructure, governance, and academic readiness. This recognition also ensures that the MBBS degree awarded through NMCC will be equivalent to other BMDC-recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh.

Navy Medical College, Chattogram (NMCC) is affiliated with the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) — a leading public university administered by the Armed Forces.

BUP was established to ensure quality higher education and research under the motto: “Excellence through Knowledge.” It serves as the affiliating and degree-awarding body for Armed Forces Medical Colleges and other professional institutions across Bangladesh.
