Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction at Navy Medical College, Chattogram (NMCC) is English.
All lectures, examinations, laboratory sessions, and official communication are conducted in English,
while Bengali may be used in patient interactions to ensure effective communication in clinical settings.
Students are expected to acquire and maintain fluency in both languages for academic and professional purposes.

NMCC upholds the Bangladesh Navy’s tradition of discipline and order, which extends to all aspects of academic life:
- Attendance: A minimum of 75% attendance is required in both lectures and practical classes to qualify for professional examinations.
- Punctuality: Students must attend classes, clinical rotations, and hospital duties on time. Late arrivals may be marked absent.
- Assignments & Records: Students must complete departmental logbooks, practical notebooks, and clinical records regularly as part of internal assessment.
- Examination Eligibility: Internal assessments, class tests, and card examinations contribute to eligibility for professional exams.
- Code of Conduct: Respect for teachers, staff, patients, and fellow students is mandatory. Breaches of discipline may result in action by college authorities.
Dress Code & Professional Etiquette
To instill professionalism, NMCC enforces a strict dress code:
- In Academic Premises & Hospital: White apron/lab coat with name tag and college ID; modest formal attire under the coat.
- During Clinical Rotations: Clean, ironed apron with stethoscope; formal closed shoes.
- For Laboratory Work: Mandatory safety gear including gloves, masks, and protective eyewear.
- Prohibited Items: Jeans, casual wear, flashy ornaments, and any attire considered unprofessional.
Professional etiquette emphasizes respect for patients, confidentiality, and adherence to medical ethics throughout academic and clinical activities.
